The world's third ranked player Roger Federer managed to advance to the semifinals at Indian Wells ATP tournament thanks to a victory over Juan Martin del Potro 6-3 6-2.
The Swiss broke once in the opening set and twice in the second set to secure victory with more than an hour old at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
Federer, who produce 13 "aces" in a game that does not draw, the win in straight sets is the fifth in a row over the Argentine ninth seed when hit "forehand" his opponent to return the service regarding the net.
Federer, 16 times grand slam champion, will face either the second seed Rafa Nadal of Spain or Argentina's David Nalbandian in the semifinals on Saturday. Nadal and Nalbandian is scheduled to compete in the finals later that same day.
Top seed Novak Djokovic from Serbia and American John Isner won the victory of the quarter-finals on Thursday.
